Allergy testing
Wanna see something kind of gross? Last Friday my sister and I got allergy tested again, since my nose has been running since August and she’s always getting sick. The last time I got tested was right before I started college, and then I had a ridiculous reaction to the testing. This time was no different.  So the way they test you is to mark lines on your back or arms and then make tiny...

An Open Letter to College Professors on the First...
Since this is my eighth semester in college I feel as if I’m qualified to say a few things to college professors concerning their behavior on the first day of class. I know that not everyone has been going to college for four years and that for some students this is only their second semester and they might still be adjusting to college life, but I believe even those students would agree...

LotR: 5 Lovable Yet Hate-able Characters
With the new year comes the final Lord of the Rings blog post in our series. You can check out our previous posts, 5 characters we love and 5 characters we hate if you need to catch up. I’ve recently begun reading Tolkien’s The Silmarillion and it’s been interesting learning about the history of Middle Earth. Maybe Peter Jackson will make a movie about it next? For now, here is...

LOTR: 5 Characters We Hate
It’s been a while since my first LotR post, so if you need a refresher, here is my list of 5 characters we love. Since writing that post during finals week after (re)watching all three of the movies I should note that I managed to watch Fellowship once more in the same week, and Two Towers on TV in this previous one. I’d say that makes me a serious nerd. It also makes my boyfriend...

Stuck in a Dating Rut?
Well my friend Matthew can help you out. He recently finished writing his second eBook, entitled “Ready-to-go Dates: The Cure for Dinner and A Movie.”            It’s really a great guide for finding new and fun things to do with your special someone. And wanna know something cool? I edited this eBook for Matthew, and I edited his previous eBook (Sticky-Note Love). It feels...

LotR: 5 Characters We Love
It’s finals week at UK and my roommates and I have accidentally rewatched all of The Lord of the Rings movies. As a result, we’ve come up with three helpful lists about the characters that you may or may not approve of. These are mostly my opinion, with some help from Amie and Danielle. (Spoiler alert: if you haven’t read the books/seen the movies this post might ruin important...

Twins (Sort of)
Sources for Cary & George You really can’t deny there’s a likeness. The Good German was on AMC while I was getting ready this morning, and I couldn’t help but think of Cary Grant whenever I saw George Clooney. They look very similar!

Some of My Favorite Guys
My family was in Lexington yesterday to celebrate the birthdays of three of my cousins and one of my aunts. Their birthdays are scattered through the end of November and into December, so we usually always clump them together. Actually every birthday on my mom’s side of the family can be clumped with another, except for my dad’s. But anyway, here are some happy party goers: The...

Post Thanksgiving
My family and I spent Thanksgiving at my great aunt’s house with most of my mom’s side of the family. It’s been so nice being home the last two days. For the past couple of years my mom’s had me make my grandmother a personalized calendar with family photos for Christmas, so every Thanksgiving I have to take new, up-to-date photos of everyone. These are just a few from my...

Jon Hamm
source Over the weekend Jason and I watched Bridesmaids again. I could possibly argue that it’s funnier the second time around, but either way there’s never a dull moment. We started watching Mad Men over the summer after we saw Bridesmaids for the first time (not because of it) and I think I must have forgotten all about Jon Hamm’s role as Kristen Wiig’s obnoxious...

My Childhood
source (I know this is the British version of the movie cover, but go with it) Ten years ago yesterday this movie debuted on the big screen. And little eleven-year-old me was going nuts, I’m sure. I’m so thankful that my fourth grade teacher read this book to us and got me immersed in the wonderful world of Harry Potter. I’m very excited for my brother and sister (who love the...

Red skies
I’m so glad my camera has a sunset setting, otherwise I’d never be able to capture beautiful pictures of the sky at twilight. This was taken on Jason’s parent’s back porch. I’m lucky enough to get to enjoy plenty of Sunday afternoon and evenings there, eating great food and bonding with his parents and brother. This was a pretty bonus this past weekend :)

It's Not Your Turn
source I’m going to be honest: I love Christmas. But you know what else I love? Thanksgiving. I also quite enjoy November in general, so I always feel kind of bad when people are all, “Halloween’s over, now we can put up our Christmas trees!” If you’re one of those people, I hold nothing against you. I simply choose to wait to get into the Christmas spirit until...
